Well, here we go again: Java is producing untraceable bugs. At one point in the code it sets the value of a string; a bit later, the string is empty. This code has been working for many months, and now it decides to go bad on me. My fear is that this is some sort of memory problem: Java somehow overwrites a chunk of memory. It shouldn't do that. But now I have to track it down step by step. What a pain in the butt.

Great. Now it's working just fine. I didn't change anything. It's just working. I hate Java.
